Privacy Policy
Quietly was explicitly built to respect your privacy. Here is exactly what we do (and don't) collect.
AI runs locally on your machine. We do not collect, monitor, transmit, or store any of your code, prompts, chat history, or personal files. The app only goes online to check your license, download engines and models you choose, and use network features you turn on. Each is described below.
1. Data collected by the Application (Quietly CLI/GUI)
Your content stays on your computer. Inference runs on your hardware. Your code, prompts, chats, generated images, and training data are stored only on your own disk and are never sent to us. The app contains no analytics, tracking, crash-reporting, or advertising code.
The app connects to the internet only for the following:
- License checks with quietlycode.org — see section 4.
- Downloads you start: engines and portable Python from GitHub, models from Hugging Face, and Python packages from PyPI and PyTorch for the engines that need them.
- Version checks: at launch and every few hours, the app asks GitHub for the latest release number so it can tell you when a new version is out. Like any web request, this reveals your IP address to GitHub; no license, account, or project data is included. Updates only install when you choose.
- Features you choose to use: Hugging Face sign-in for gated models, the agent's web-fetch tool (which asks before each request), and any remote MCP servers you add.
Air-Gap Mode (Settings → Privacy) blocks every one of these connections except traffic to your own computer, and the in-app Security Feed lists anything it blocked.
2. Data collected on this Website
When you browse quietlycode.org, our hosting provider may collect standard connection information (such as your IP address and user agent) purely for server logging and abuse prevention.
Advertising tracking. This website does not load the Meta Pixel or send page-view events to Meta.
Affiliate links. The website loads a small script from our payment processor, Lemon Squeezy, so that a purchase made after following an affiliate link can be credited to that affiliate.
The mobile desktop notice does not store personal information or save its dismissal in browser storage. None of this applies to the Quietly application, which contains no analytics or advertising code.
3. Purchase Information
When you purchase a license, you provide your email address, name, and payment information through our secure payment processor. We do not process or store your raw credit card numbers.
Upon successful payment, we receive your order information including your email and the generated license key so we can provide you access to the software.
4. License Verification
When you enter your license key on our download page, that key is verified securely. Once verified, the download links for the version that key covers are unlocked.
The app also checks your license with quietlycode.org: when you activate it, each time the app starts, and about once an hour while you are online. Each check sends only your license key and a salted, hashed identifier for your computer (not its name, serial number, or any file contents). The hashed identifier is stored with our payment processor, Lemon Squeezy, as the name of your license activation, so a key stays active on one computer at a time.
If the app cannot reach us, it keeps working for up to 30 days from the last successful check, then asks for one online check before unlocking again. Your key and your data are kept. Air-Gap Mode postpones checks but does not extend the 30 days.
